In substantial documentary matters, an amended contract, replacement expert report or corrected correspondence can change what earlier work still supports. Document Change Impact helps a legal team trace the consequences of an approved document version relationship through existing source-linked matter records.
- Source changesA document revises or supersedes an earlier version
- Evidence affectedRetain the original material and its provenance
- Issues and tasks surfacedInclude relevant indirect issue-to-task links
- Solicitor reviewsNo silent change to approved work
What is new?
Tasks may depend on legal issues rather than citing a document themselves. Where an approved document change affects the evidence for a recorded legal issue, R1 A1 can include the tasks linked to that issue as indirect review candidates. Their relationship is labelled rather than presented as a direct evidential citation.
A synthetic construction dispute example
A revised notice record changes the evidence about when a contractual instruction was issued. That may affect an extension-of-time issue. A task to reassess notice compliance, connected to that issue, can appear for review even if the task does not itself cite the changed notice. The solicitor then checks the source and decides whether the task or assessment needs amendment.
What the feature does not do
- It does not decide the legal effect of a revision or automatically change approved legal conclusions.
- It does not create direct citations for tasks connected indirectly through issues.
- It does not guarantee that every dependent item has been found; missing and unrecorded relationships still require professional attention.
- It does not replace supervision, matter access controls or source verification.
Evidence of implementation
The production R1 A1 release was verified through isolated synthetic tests of impact logic, the interface component, startup and persisted synthetic task data. In a controlled fixture, two indirectly linked tasks appeared alongside seven previously identified items. The live application passed a post-deployment browser smoke check. A full authenticated end-to-end demonstration using a populated governed matter remains outstanding.
